Saskatchewan Business Development Manager

Alberta/Saskatchewan | Hybrid | Full-Time

HumaTerra is a Canadian early-stage producer and seller of biological soil inoculants. Our mission is to enhance the life of the soil through the diversity, density, and resilience of soil microbial communities. 

HumaTerra is conducting Random Controlled Trials (RCTs) with 10 research stations across Alberta and Saskatchewan, and head-to-head trials over 25,000 acres with farmers. After years of Research & Development, we’re further developing our business development team. We’d like you to join us as a Business Development Manager. This is a permanent, full time, remote position. 

HumaTerra products can be applied wherever the ground has been disturbed. Therefore, we’re expanding the markets we serve from agriculture to energy, forestry and horticulture. 

What will you be accountable for? 

  • Strategic development of regional sales and marketing plans
  • Working with agriculture retailers and producers
  • Setting up budgets
  • Achieving sales targets
  • Recruiting and retaining sales and account staff
  • Using our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system

Who are we looking for?

Due to our culture of autonomy and innovation, there’s opportunity to shape the role to your experience and aspirations. Our core requirements are: 

  • An interest in soil science and microbiology
  • Coaching skills
  • Five years of experience in agriculture retail 
  • Sales strategy expertise
  • The ability to overcome challenges and to identify and seize opportunities (problem solving)
  • Communication style versatility 
  • Capability to build rapport through public speaking/presentations
  • Willingness and ability to travel
  • Post-secondary education in marketing (or equivalent sales experience with a professional certification)
